I have a theory about compost...
What about piling the weed pile in a section of the garden where the veggies don't grow well, and after the compost happens, level the pile where it sits?
These magenta spreen (growing in the freshly spread compost), are ready to eat...
Saw a hummingbird today, visiting the coral honeysuckle...
Sulphur yellow visiting the eastern columbine...
The iris are starting to bloom...
As is the wild indigo (Baptisia lanceolata).... This indigo is a natural... was here when I got here...
The kudzu bugs have found my fava beans...

I had to look up Magenta Spreen. I try to not put weeds and their seeds in my compost. Then I try to mulch with pine straw over my spread compost. I still get weeds but they're easier to deal with.
Weeds are in deed a good indicator of fertile ground. If it won't grow weeds, it will hardly grow peas.
I found a volunteer Coral Honeysuckle on the property yesterday. I was astounded :). Spring is here , but we have two nights of 38 degreees predicted this week. Seems like it drags out like this every year now.
All of my coral honeysuckle is natural, I just had to leave it be when I turned the soil....
The deer eat it, so in this area... Nobody sees it unless they fence it in.
I have volunteer tomatoes... Was watching Ag day on the tv, they were talking about percentage of corn planted... I need to get some green beans n watermelons planted...
