I don't see the gopher tortoises very often... so when this one came to my back door, it seemed providential... and I went running for the camera.
The turtle seems to be interested in eating the soil... Minerals?
Kitty's interested too...

I've never noticed a gopher tortoise eating dirt. Around here they like to dig their tunnels near clumps of Little Blue Stem which I have seen them eating.
Dunno about little bluestem... But yeah... I've seen them eating grass.... But what always gets me... Is watching them eat cndosculous! This year, they were eating my squash plants!
