Camping in the Garden

Cheery fire.

The cat brought dinner.

I pulled the weeds last winter, and spread well-aged manure...
A little too well-aged... It came with weed seeds which grew with the cool season rains...

Got some manure that isn't as well-aged... Hoping for a few less weeds....

Top dressing the flowers after pulling out the weeds... Let's see how they do...

Toadflax.
I consider this winter annual to be a wildflower...

Coral honeysuckle.

Eastern columbine

Salvia

So far things are looking up...
We deserve a decent gardening year after the one we had last year...

That honeysuckle is really cool, I've never seen the native honeysuckle, only the evil invasive kind. I bet the migrating hummingbirds really appreciate it.

There's a yellow coral honeysuckle as well... looks just like the red... Somehow, I like the red better.
When I started this garden, I pulled out the evil Japanese honeysuckle, and teased the native coral honeysuckle away from the evil stuff and then re-planted the good kind.
I have tons.... We should figure out a way for me to send you a start. I really like the little pots that Plant Delights sends...
Keeping that stuff watered through the summer until I could send it in the Autumn... There's a project....
