Autumn Bloom

As pretty as these peppers are, they aren't what I ordered... when I bought seed.
I sent for bhut jolokia... I think these are some kind of heatless habanero pepper.

Colour echo!
Agalinis and echinacea.

Front meadow.... camphorweed and agalinis.

Green beans.... if I can manage to get any away from the cats....

Blue curls

Brugmansia (doubles)

Long tailed skipper visiting richardia (Mexican clover)

The chickens enjoy the richardia too!

Dark form tiger swallowtail and cypress vine.

Helianthus angustifolia

Sux to be a baby caterpillar.... when the wasps live nearby...

Close up of purpletop (Tridens flavus)

Sweet potato blooms

My garden snake.... I shot video of the sound of the rattles, but only like 4 seconds... hardly seems worth including...
I do have some 12 seconds or so of Irma at my house....

the edible garden...

I don't post many pictures of what the rest of the place looks like... and I should, people don't really know much about the sandhills.
Here's a couple pics of the sand... and the lichen.

7 watermelons!

Variegated corn

 corn and more corn!
I like corn... in spite of the difficulty of growing it here...

Veggie jungle...

 Virginia pipevine
Pipevine caterpillar

Deerberry (Vaccinium stamineum)
Ripe enough for human consumption!

Check these cute little plants that came up immediately after burning...
Took a while, but I wracked my brain until I decided they were sida.

Butterflies!

4 american lady butterflies visit echinacea.
close-up

pollinators on the watermelons... cabbage white above, checkered fritillary below.

And a gulf fritillary...

Pipevine Swallowtail nectaring at the lantana.

A pair of long-winged skippers....
The orange cosmos is a big draw.... buckey and checkered frit.

I spent hours trying to get a photograph of one of the zebra longwings... don't get many..... they are as rare as the monarchs....

Speaking of which... Finally a monarch... nectared at the zinnia patch, but I didn't see it find any of the milkweeds.

These gray tree frogs are simply too cute for words!
